The Shore is the only location on Blue Bay Beach & Golf Resort with its own private gate onto the sand. No walking round to the main entrance, no sharing a path with the rest of the resort. It is a gated complex inside a gated resort, with its own infinity pool, and you need a key fob for every door. Below are the apartments we manage here.

The gate, and why it matters more than it sounds

Every other location at Blue Bay reaches the beach the same way: out the front door, along to the main entrance, in through the gate. It takes a minute or two and it is perfectly pleasant.

The Shore does not do that. A locked private gate leads straight from the complex onto the beach, and only Shore guests can open it. It sounds like a small thing until you have carried towels, a cool bag, snorkels and a toddler somewhere in the afternoon heat, or until you want to swim before breakfast without getting properly dressed first.

The key fob that opens that gate also opens the complex entrance and the lifts, and you need it to come back off the beach as well as to get on. Nobody without one moves through the building. That is a gated apartment complex sitting inside an already gated resort, which is why The Shore is the location we point families and anyone travelling with valuables toward.

There is also a shared infinity pool for Shore guests only, which is a different experience from the main resort pool.

How the buildings are laid out

The Shore is three buildings: one larger one in the middle, with a smaller building on the left and right as you face the ocean. Position in that layout is what determines your view, and the difference between apartments here is mostly about height and which building you are in.

Choosing between the apartments

Shore 19 is our most-loved apartment. Second floor of the middle building, three bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, plus a separate guest toilet. It is elevated and sits directly in front of the beach, so the view is the best of the group, and the interior is the most stylish. The dining table seats eight, which makes it the natural choice for a group or an extended family.

Shore 16 is on the first floor of the middle building. It has three bedrooms, but we rent it as a two, because the third master is kept locked for the owner's use. Two full en-suites plus a guest bathroom, a decent beachfront view, and large walk-in showers rather than a bath.

Shore 6 sits on the second floor of the right-hand building. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and no separate guest toilet. It is the only apartment at The Shore with a bathtub in the master bathroom, which matters to some guests and to anyone travelling with small children. Being higher up, the beachfront view is good.

Shore 31 is a second-floor corner apartment in the left-hand building. Two bedrooms with en-suites plus a guest toilet. Honest note: this one has the least beach view of the four, because there are trees in front of it, though you are still elevated. What you get in exchange is the most privacy, being on the corner.

What is in every apartment

Full kitchen, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. A double-door fridge with an ice maker and a filtered water dispenser. Hot water, air conditioning in the living room, and a lift in every building.

Every apartment is stocked before you arrive with more than the usual: salt, pepper, olive oil, a week of toilet rolls, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in each bathroom, kitchen towels, dishwashing tablets, bin bags and espresso coffee for the first few days. Both an espresso machine and a filter coffee machine, plus a kettle and a blender.

Beach beds on the Blue Bay beach are free for our guests, every day. The larger palapa huts, which give proper shade, are rented separately. Brass Boer on the pier will bring food and drinks to a waterfront hut with a hammock net over the water, which is worth doing once.

Our office is five minutes from the resort gate and we are reachable around the clock for anything urgent.

FAQs

Can I walk straight onto the beach from The Shore?

Yes. The Shore is the only location at Blue Bay with a private locked gate leading directly onto the sand. You open it with your key fob, and you need it to come back through as well.

What is the key fob for?

It opens the complex entrance, the lifts to your floor, and the private beach gate in both directions. Nobody without a fob can move through the buildings, which is what makes The Shore the most secure location on the resort.

Which apartment is best for a family or a group?

Shore 19, with three en-suite bedrooms, a separate guest toilet and two dining tables for eight. Shore 6 is the one to choose if a bathtub matters, since it is the only apartment here that has one.

Is there a swimming pool?

Yes, a shared infinity pool for Shore guests, separate from the main resort pool.

Do the apartments have baths or showers?

Showers, apart from Shore 6, which has a bathtub in the master bathroom. Shore 16 has particularly large walk-in showers.

Are beach beds included?

Yes, free every day of your stay. The larger thatched palapa huts are rented separately if you want more shade.
