The Blue Emerald Ocean Suites are the beachfront apartments at Blue Bay, spread across three buildings that sit progressively closer to the water. These are the largest apartments we manage on the resort, several with panoramic balconies looking straight down the coast. Which building and which floor you choose makes a real difference here, so the descriptions below are specific about it.
Three buildings, and how to tell them apart
The Ocean Suites are colour-coded, and knowing the system saves a lot of confusion when you arrive.
The yellow building is the first one you reach and sits furthest from the water. The blue building is in the middle. The green building is the last one and sits closest to the ocean and the beach. Anyone who tells you they are staying "in the green building" is telling you they are closest to the sea.
The complex is around fifteen years old. Some apartments have been fully renovated, some partly, and some remain in original condition. We say which below, because it is the question guests ask most and the one that generic listing sites never answer honestly.
Getting to the beach
There is no private beach gate here, and it is worth being straight about that. You leave through the front door, walk round towards the beach parking, and enter through the main resort entrance. It takes about a minute.
What you get in exchange is size and outlook. These are big apartments, and the balconies in the green building in particular look straight out over the water in a way nothing else on the resort does. There is also a shared community pool, and lifts in every building.
Choosing between the apartments
Ocean Suite 7 is the one to book if you want everything new. Green building, second floor, three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and a complete renovation just finished. New tiles throughout, fresh paint, an entirely new kitchen with an island, and every bathroom redone, including a double shower in the master. Being a floor higher than Ocean Suite 5, the balcony catches the sunset as well as the ocean and the beach.
Ocean Suite 5 is directly below it on the first floor of the green building. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a new master bathroom and the rest still original. The balcony is superb, with a panoramic view over the ocean and beach, and it sits directly above Brass Boer on the pier, so the restaurant is effectively downstairs.
Ocean Suite 13 is on the first floor of the blue building. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, with the master bathroom completely redone and the rest original. Beachfront, with a better outlook than the apartment below it.
Ocean Suite 11 is on the ground floor of the blue building. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, in original condition. It is beachfront, though there are trees partly across the view. You are still right beside the beach and you can hear it from the balcony, which some guests prefer to being higher up.
Ocean Suite 25 is the penthouse, third floor of the yellow building. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms. The interior is original, but it has recently been refurnished throughout: new living room couch, chairs, indoor and outdoor tables and an outdoor lounge set.
Ocean Suite 23 sits below it on the second floor of the yellow building, two bedrooms, fully original. Two honest points about this one. It has the least beach view of the Ocean Suites, because it is set back towards the rear of the beach, and you will not see the sunset from here, because it drops behind a cliff. You do get a beach view and you can see the roof of the beach restaurant.
What is in every apartment
A fridge with an ice maker and a filtered water tap, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, hot water and air conditioning in the living room. Dining tables both inside and out on the balcony, in all of them.
Every apartment is stocked before you arrive with more than the usual: salt, pepper, olive oil, a week of toilet rolls, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in each bathroom, kitchen towels, dishwashing tablets, bin bags and espresso coffee for the first few days. There is both an espresso machine and a filter coffee machine, plus a kettle and a blender.
Beach beds are free every day for our guests. The larger palapa huts are rented separately. Brass Boer, which is downstairs from Ocean Suite 5, rents waterfront huts with hammock nets strung over the water and will bring food and drinks out to you all day.
Our office is five minutes from the resort gate and we are reachable around the clock for anything urgent.

What is the difference between the green, blue and yellow buildings?
Distance from the water. The green building has the most ocean and beach view, the blue building is in the middle, and the yellow building is the first one you reach and sits closest to the main beach entrance.
Which Ocean Suite has the best view?
Ocean Suite 7, on the second floor of the green building, which catches the sunset as well as the ocean and beach. Ocean Suite 5 directly below it has a panoramic view too. Ocean Suite 23 has the least, and does not get the sunset at all.
Which apartments have been renovated?
Ocean Suite 7 has just been fully renovated, including a new kitchen, bedrooms, Livingroom, and bathrooms. Ocean Suite 5 and Ocean Suite 13 have had their master bathrooms completely redone. Ocean Suite 25 keeps its original interior but has been recently refurnished. Ocean Suites 11 and 23 are mostly original with some new furniture.
How far is the beach?
About a minute's walk. Unlike The Shore, the Ocean Suites do not have a private beach gate, so you leave through the front door and enter through the main resort entrance.
Can I watch the sunset from the balcony?
From Ocean Suite 5 and 7, always. From Ocean Suite 23 and 25, no, because the sun drops behind a cliff from that angle.
Are these apartments actually beachfront?
Yes. all the Ocean Suites apartments are beachfront, though the ground floor apartment in the blue building has some trees partly across the view.
